Speed to Market Was Key to Top Grocer’s Race to Meet Unprecedented Demand for Curbside Pickup

The Problem:

The client faced the challenge of responding to an unprecedented demand for curbside grocery pickup. The extraordinary demand required rapid expansion of curbside capacity including wireless capabilities and contact-less transactions at 2,800 stores threatening to overwhelm the client’s internal IT resources.

The Effort:

Thousands of wireless handheld devices used in-store required extensive hardware reconfiguration & software reprogramming to support outdoor use. Pomeroy proposed to “loan” the client a team of experienced technicians for the four-month project at the client’s depot facility. In a few days the Pomeroy team was working alongside client IT teams.

The Results:

Pomeroy ensured speed to market by combining resources to quickly ramp up curbside capacity so the client could respond much faster. The solution contributed to improved company performance and customer experience through more customers served/hour, served more efficiently & profitably thereby contributing to revenue growth.
