Specialty Biotech Healthcare Company

Global IT Support and Network Enhancements Enable Biotech Firm to Focus on Saving Lives

Amicus Therapeutics is an international biotech firm. Founded in 2007, Amicus focuses on research and development of innovative treatments for rare conditions. The company employs cutting-edge technology platforms to craft therapies for genetic disorders. Amicus scientists are committed to improving treatments for individuals affected by these uncommon illnesses.

Challenges:

Amicus was looking to expand operations and needed technology and processes that could scale with them and that could be implemented without disrupting research. The firm sought the support of a provider with a holistic approach to leverage the benefits of standardized and automated technology processes.

The company also added a new floor to its headquarters and needed to augment the existing network design to expand their wired and wireless footprint to incorporate new workstations, peripherals and legacy equipment vital to the workflow.

Additional requirements included:

● Meeting strict regulatory compliance requirements
● Improving user experience
● Connecting and supporting staff at locations across the globe
● Automating manual security processes
● Updating and managing the lifecycle of legacy technology

The Solution:

Pomeroy implemented a multi-tower, robust managed service solution that included:

● Granular measurement and metrics that allow our team to pinpoint customer service issues in areas
ranging from user device health to network latency
● Infrastructure management services that scale with the needs of the business
International dispatch support and deployment of technicians to all Amicus affiliate branches across the globe

To address the network expansion on the additional floor, Pomeroy updated and expanded the legacy network with Cisco Meraki switches and access points, which provide consistency, ease of management, and automatic cloud-based security updates and patches. The project included the integration of legacy Cisco network equipment with newer network technologies. Pomeroy addressed this challenge by implementing two separate stacks into a seamless network solution, improving throughput and performance throughout the network.

The Results:

The Amicus team can focus on patients and develop therapies without worrying about IT, thanks to Pomeroy’s efficient incident resolution and user experience monitoring. With tools that enable mature security processes and automated patching, the firm benefits from stable and reliable IT infrastructure and is prepared for future growth.

Other improvements include:

● Reduction in support tickets
● Improved incident response times
● Consistently high CX ratings
● A centralized support platform built on knowledge articles
● Improved capacity, performance, and seamless scalability
● Global, scalable, managed infrastructure that grows with Amicus and stays compliant
