Pomeroy and its employees recognize the importance of giving back to the community. This giving back takes many forms, from international disaster relief to local community support to green initiatives. Recent programs that exemplify Pomeroy’s commitment to community include:
United Way – The 2013 campaign saw a nearly 20% increase in the number of Pomeroy employees who pledged funds for United Way organizations in Greater Cincinnati and around the U.S., earning its third consecutive WOW! Award for impressive year-over-year growth. In 2012, Pomeroy was also a recipient of the prestigious Community Care Days award for excellence in volunteering. Through the Pomeroy Cares committee, employees organized and volunteered in 11 projects with 300 plus employees and over 450 hours of service.
Disaster Relief – Employees and the company contributed to the American Red Cross to support humanitarian and business recovery efforts in the wake of both the tornadoes that ripped through the Greater Cincinnati area in early 2012 and Superstorm Sandy which struck in October 2012.
Education – 2012 marks the third consecutive year Pomeroy has sponsored a team in the INTERalliance IT Careers Camp. Twenty high school students competed in a problem-solving “Olympics” on Pomeroy’s corporate campus. Pomeroy is also a supporter of the "Be the Change" program, which provides reading and math tutors to high-need elementary schools in Cincinnati.
Environment – To celebrate Earth Day 2012, Pomeroy held an e-waste recycling event for employees on its corporate campus. Employees dropped off unwanted electronic gear for recycling in a secure and environmentally responsible way. In 2010 Pomeroy began initiatives on its corporate campus to promote recycling and reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Community Volunteering – To support United Way-funded agencies and programs, Pomeroy employees created the Pomeroy Cares team. Throughout each year, the team sponsors activities that help employees make a difference in the community. With the team’s help, employees have donated grocery items for a food drive, formed a team for a March of Dimes walk, built educational toys that help first-time moms educate their children and staffed concessions at a basketball tournament benefiting research on curing Cystic Fibrosis.
Whatever the project, whatever the task, the employees of Pomeroy are passionate in their commitment to being involved in their communities and sharing their good fortune with others.
